Scholarship Information

Share Health Southeast Georgia offers scholarships to both traditional and nontraditional students pursuing a career in healthcare.  Scholarships are offered to traditional students who reside in and attend high school in the 16 counties served by the Southeast Health District (www.sehdph.org).   Non-traditional students who are enrolled in a degree program in public health or healthcare and have a residence in one of the 16 counties of the Southeast Health District can also apply.  Preference will be given to nontraditional students who are employees of the Southeast Health District. Share Health Southeast Georgia is dedicated to improving the health of all generations in our sixteen-county community by cultivating partnerships and providing philanthropic and advocacy support to the Southeast Health District.  The Share Health Scholarship program is used as a mechanism to further our mission and as a strategy to recruit and retain the public health workforce in rural Southeast Georgia. 

 

Applications must be completed by March 01, 2024 for BOTH scholarships.
 

Guidelines for Receiving a Traditional Share Health Southeast Georgia Scholarship

The Share Health Southeast Georgia Scholarship Fund was created to provide annual scholarships to graduating seniors from high schools and homeschools in the 16-county region of the Southeast Health District who show an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. The following criteria will apply:

  1. Plan to study public health/healthcare in their university or college work.

  2. Maintain good grades.

  3. Be involved in extracurricular activities, especially those activities involved in health, within the school and/or within the community.

  4. Attend a college or university which is classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

  5. Complete an application form and include a one-page essay reflecting the role healthcare plays in his/her life, how the major they are pursuing relates and where in Georgia they want to be employed after they graduate.

  6. Submit two letters of reference.

  7. Demonstrate financial need.  FAFSA is available to complete now.  The SAR report is required and can be received within 48 hours of completing the FAFSA.

Guidelines for Receiving a Non-Traditional Share Health Southeast Georgia Scholarship 

The Share Health Southeast Georgia Scholarship Fund was created in 2016 to provide annual scholarships to non-traditional students who live and work in the 16-county region of the Southeast Health District who are pursuing a career in healthcare or public health.  Preference will be given to employees of the Southeast Health District. The following criteria apply:

  1. Pursuing a course of study in public health/healthcare.

  2. A resident of one of the 16 counties of the Southeast Health District.

  3. Attend a college or university which is classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

  4. Complete an application form and include a maximum two-page essay describing (1) why you are furthering your education, (2) why you intend to continue working in health care in southeast Georgia, (3) how your continued education will benefit southeast Georgia residents, and (4) your financial need for the scholarship.

  5. Level of community involvement through community service activities and/or academic or community honors/awards. 

  6. Submit two letters of reference, including one from a current or former employer in a health care field.  Letters of reference should be signed, dated and on agency letterhead.
